As I had briefly touched on yesterday my daughters home, pets, years of accumulated what-nots, furniture, every piece of clothing and other miscellaneous property that would cover everything else (literally everything) went up in an inferno…
They are trying to pick up the pieces and putting their faith in God at this hour. Their community, friends, and family are starting to pull together and helping out in a myriad of ways.
It goes without saying; that having lost it all, it’s going to take some time for them to get back on track emotionally and of course financially. I’m doing as much as I can as a disabled veteran with my income, more importantly with my unconditional love and support. I always have and I always will go above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to my girls.

Genoa home destroyed by fire
March 30, 2010 @ 12:00 AM
The Herald-Dispatch
GENOA, W.Va. — An early morning fire in Genoa completely destroyed a home on Driftcreek Road on Monday. There was no one home at the time, but a small dog is believed to have been inside at the time.
Volunteer fire and rescue crews from Dunlow, Wayne and East Lynn responded to the fire at 8 a.m. Monday at the two-story, single-family residence. There were six firetrucks on the scene, but Dunlow volunteer and paid EMT Pat Beckett said firefighters had to relay water up the hill to the home via the narrow, blacktop driveway. The house was fully engulfed when the crews arrived.
The home was being rented, and both the homeowner and the tenant arrived at the scene before it was cleared. They had been at work at the time the fire started.
“The deck to the house was all that was standing,” Beckett said, adding that the home had a recent addition and probably was not more than 25 years old.
I have established a way to donate; I feel kinda strange about doing that, but anything anyone can help out with be it pocket change, prayers, or simply keeping them in your thoughts is all a dad can ask for, very gracious, and much appreciated.

God is good, Gunz. And he loves you even more than Gary, Greg and me!
You’re in our prayers. Our family went through a fire, but didn’t lose everything. My parents had to move out of their home for 4 months and clean everything. It’s tragic, but I claim Rom. 8:28 for you and yours in regard to this situation.
Thank you, Gary, for the opportunity to share in support for those who’ve supported me through so very much!

Dear Gunz,
I do not know you but I don’t have to. I heard about your situation on Gary’s Facebook. I do not have a lot of money to donate but I will make a donation. However, I do know that when everyone gives a little it adds up to a lot because we just went through that. Our community has overwhelmed us with love and support through the death of our grandson who was one of the 3 soldiers killed in Pakistan on February 3, 2010. Our community felt that we should not be out any expenses due to his death. Our community raised $10,000.00 to send 7 family members to Arlington National Cemetery on April 7, 2010 to bury our grandson. I do know that good comes out of every situation no matter how bad, if we just look for it. We will pray for your family.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your service to us and to our country, we do appreciate it.
God bless you in this tragic situation.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do. I don’t have a great deal of cash but I have “stuff” clothes, pots and pans etc. I can box up and mail if needed.

Sorry for getting here late but I sent an email to 132 of my folks, I know that somewhere in that crowd there’s bound to be some help coming!

I will be sending what I can. I am out of work and disabled but the Lord has made it clear to me on what I need to do.
I do not argue and God bless you and thank you for your service! I am married with two kids. Will post a link on my
blog and FaceBook page.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. It’s easy to take for granted what we have, like the clothes on our backs.

You don’t know me, but you’re a Marine… so you’re my husband’s brother. And I cannot imagine what you, your daughter, or anyone else in your family is going through right now… so I won’t pretend I can. But I just needed to leave a comment and let you know that I care. I’ll say prayers for all of you, and I’ll tell people I know to read this and do what they can. I just wish I could do more.

Wow, I do apologize for not getting in here earlier. As I read each comment it literally leaves me speechless, and emotional.
The friendship, the caring, the support, the love, the help in all these ways is nothing short of a blessing and I appreciate it more than I can put it into words. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
I don’t even know where to begin and have decided it would be best to make a post of it, maybe tomorrow, as not only am I helping with the homeless veteran issue here in my community, but also trying to get my girls back on their feet and their mother.
I should have all your e mails to where I can write you all individually, personally, and the proper way…
Everything helps, thanks so much!!
